Landlord Agreement

A landlord agreement is one of the first things you should be preparing when you decide rent a property, whether it be an apartment or a rental home. This paper is the record of all the decisions that you and your landlord are agreeing to at the time when you rent the home or apartment.

While landlord agreements vary all the time, most agreements for rental homes have common characteristics, as do most agreements for rental apartments.

Landlord Agreement for Rental Homes:

•  This states who will pay for utilities
•  The responsibility of lawn and garden care, maintenance and upkeep is usually the tenant's.
•  There are emergency contact numbers for maintenance or repair work that the tenant may have to take care of
•  It states who will manage snow removal (this is usually the tenant)
•  It usually states the landlord's contact details
•  There is a section about the society dues that the tenant may have to pay

Landlord Agreement for Rental Apartments:

•  This states that the landlord will pay for the utilities
•  It puts the responsibility of maintenance and property upkeep on the landlord
•  The name of the property manager and his or her contact number is usually mentioned on this
•  It states the rules for the tenants to follow
•  It clearly gives the rules for security deposits, their retention or refunds
