Tenant Right

The tenant has the right to read and understand any document that requires his signature. The tenant can also obtain a duplicate of any document that he signs.

The rental unit must be in a condition to live in. There must be sufficient hot and cold drinking water, facilities for disposal of garbage, heating, windows, doors, smoke detectors, and bathrooms. Landlords must fix or substitute damaged or broken things in the house.

The right to privacy can be practiced by tenants within their property. This tenant right states that the landlord can only enter the property during a crisis or after serving 24 hours notice to the tenant about his need to enter the building.

The tenant right includes the right to retrieve the security deposit within 30 days of vacating the premises and obtaining particulars on deductions made from it. The landlord must furnish the tenant with these details.

Last of all, the tenant holds the right of not being evicted, if not for a legitimate reason like non-payment of rent.
